Pure Pie illustrations scoop international award

-  Thu, Nov 1st 2007

Pure Pie has been awarded Gold by the Association of Illustrators, and will feature in the latest Images annual and touring exhibition.

For more than 30 years, Images has been the only jury-selected illustration annual published in the UK. Gold, silver and bronze awards are presented in the categories Advertising, Books, Design, Editorial, Self-promotion and New Talent. It is considered British illustration's most important document.

Each year the contents are selected from hundreds of entries by seven separate juries of influential figures in the creative industry - art directors from advertising, periodical and book publishing, illustrators' agents and practicing illustrators.

So you can imagine how pink we were tickled when illustrator Steve Simpson rang to tell us that the work we commissioned had scooped the top gong in the Design category.

Steve said “ When Red Rocket sent me the brief for the Pure Pie illustrations, we all knew it had the potential to be a great project. It's great to add the AOI to the list of people who love it!”

Power Pack – fully charged identity!

-  Mon, Oct 1st 2007

In early 2007 we offered to help Power Pack, a young Plymouth-based charity that supports disabled children and their families. In support of their future fundraising and communications activities, we have now completed a new logo, website and newsletter.

The offer came as part of our 10th birthday celebrations, and involved spending time with the children and their families to get a real sense of how they wanted to be seen.

A number of ideas were presented, and the overwhelming favourite was a bright graffiti-inspired logo. Charity organiser Sharon Kitcher said: “The new look is fantastic, and all the kids involved are really proud of it. Using the new website and newsletter we can keep people better informed and reach out to more likeminded families.”

New packaging for Westaways

-  Thu, Apr 24th 2008

We have designed new packaging sleeves for the region's favourite sausages - Westaways. The new packs include a new environmentally-friendly tray, and better represent the premium nature of the sausages themselves. Sales from key retailers who have provided early figures are up 60% since the new designs were launched in March.

Run like the wind (posted by Jane)

-  Tue, May 6th 2008

My friend Lutzy and I have successfully completed The Great West Run - a major achievement for two forty-somethings!

The day was great – very hot, very sweaty, very emotional, very tiring, very inspiring, very fulfilling and very much fun (although the fun bit was at the end).

What a fantastic crowd we had cheering us along the 13 miles – we were offered jelly babies, water, juices and someone even had a hose pipe running from their house to cool us all down!

We have raised a considerable amount of money for Powerpack, a local children’s charity – over £3500 at the last count. They are hoping to buy some specialist sports equipment that they can use with the wheelchairs. A big thanks to some of the children and parents that came along on Sunday to support us – it made the pain worthwhile!
