Packaging

Packaging has always been a real strength of Red Rocket. Over the years we’ve acquired a huge wealth of knowledge and expertise both creatively and technically. From developing ideas with pad and pencil to the delivery of the finished packaging, we can manage the entire process.

We’re used to working in three dimensions and have an appreciation of all the main print processes. We can involve a printer from our own tried and trusted sources or use yours if you already have an established relationship. We’ll liaise on the phone, meet if required and even visit them to pass the job on press – whatever it takes to to get the best possible result.

How do we begin our five stage process?

First of all we will have an initial meeting with you to to discuss your packaging requirements. The more detail you can give us, the more effective and targeted our solution will be.

Stage one – Research and strategy formulation

We will usually start the project by doing some research. This could consist of a bit of ‘online trawling’ to review the competition or involve a visit to selected outlets to consider the retail environment. Ultimately this will help to create a positioning for your product. Having established this, we can then recommend a strategy for the new ‘look and feel’.

Stage two – Design

Having conducted research, we will start the creative process and develop a range of solutions. These will explore slightly different routes but all satisfying the agreed strategy and positioning.

We will then present our work. Packaging solutions will be presented as 3D mock ups to give you an impression of how the concept works ‘in the hand’.  Our designs will reflect the personality of your product and will relate back to the strategy that you agreed with us.

Stage three – Design developments

This stage provides an opportunity for Red Rocket to develop your preferred concept incorporating your feedback. A visual will then be re-presented for sign off before artwork progresses.

Stage four – Artwork

Red Rocket will have continued a dialogue with a chosen printer/pack producer throughout the concept development stage to get their input. This provides confirmation that the proposed solution works from a technical perspective. As a result they will produce a keyline (a digital technical drawing in flat 2D form) or multiple keylines for artwork production. These allow us to accurately lay out the design ready for print.

Stage five – Print production

With your sign off, the artwork will be sent to the printer. Prior to print, Red Rocket will see and sign off a printer’s proof, an accurate digital colour guide to the printed result.

With the print produced, the finished job will then be delivered to your specified location and you are ready to launch!
